Born in New York City and raised in Puerto Rico, Lourdes has lived in some of the most culturally diverse points on the globe; like Switzerland, Miami, and even Pakistan. This is where Lourdes raised her children, in fact. This is where she launched her exclusive jewelry line of classic stunners in 1997, naming it after her most precious gem, her daughter, Nabila.
Lourdes brings a polished multicultural ideology, rich in every shade of island-to-urbane experience to the NABILA FINE JEWELRY (NFJ) design board. However, this is not without considerable qualification and training. Primed with an Associate in Arts degree from the American College of Switzerland (1979) and two Bachelor of Arts degrees, one in Business Administration with a major in Management and a second in Fine Arts with a major in French, from Florida International University (1981), she followed her passion for a career in jewelry by enrolling at the prestigious Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the world’s foremost authority on diamonds, coloured stones, pearls, and jewelry. In 2000, Lourdes not only acquired a Graduate Gemologist degree here, she was also nominated for Outstanding Distance Education Graduate Program Student of the Year.
Lourdes counts her mother and husband as foremost in encouraging her to hone her unique combination of talent and expertise, to create a jewelry house that goes further than just manufacturing what is en vogue.
NFJ pieces are composed combining the ancient dexterity of Eastern craftsmanship and the timeless substance of Western finesse.
Lourdes believes in a perfect balance of light, line, and lure; precious nonpareils that speak to a woman’s most distinctive ideal. But because she values her clients as highly as family, what she provides is more than just jewelry. With heritage as her inspiration, what Lourdes creates are insignias in stone.
